OU Concludes Doctoral Colloquium in Riverside

November 19, 2015

Olivet University recently concluded its annual doctoral colloquium at its Riverside campus.

Ph.D. and D.Min. students had participated in 10 days of global theology and missiology seminars in preparation for their research project or Doctor of Ministry thesis.

Other seminars offered this year included one on New Testament Background as well as Buddhism, the latter of which would help students learn how to better communicate the Gospel in a predominantly Buddhist region.

“The eagerness of the students to commit to the doctoral program impressed me greatly,” said Dr. Donald Tinder, dean of Zinznedorf School of Doctoral Studies. “I divided my own large class into six smaller discussion groups. I was unsure how it would work with English being a second language for most. But as I listened to the groups, it seemed that just about everybody did actively participate. Different ones each day competently reported to the whole class.”

“I look forward to seeing their written assignments as they continue to reflect on the contents of the seminar and on how this translates into greater ministry effectiveness."
