Olivet University Holds 2007 Commencement Ceremony

June 16, 2007

On Friday, June 15, 2007, parents, faculty, student leaders, and members of the administration and governing board, together with hundreds of visitors convened at Olivet University for Commencement 2007.

The spring ceremony was held in Olivet University Chapel at the University's main campus in downtown San Francisco, California.

The University welcomed the Class of 2007 into Olivet's alumni community. Over half were awarded Master of Divinity degrees from Olivet Theological College & Seminary and participated in a joyful hooding ceremony during the afternoon exercises.

The University also conferred Bachelor of Art degree awards in theology, music, journalism, graphic design, and information technology at the 2-hour event.

According to tradition, the graduating class stood as a group to recognize and applaud their supporters before the conferment of degrees.

Geoff Tunnicliffe, top leader of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA), gave the commencement address and received an honorary degree.

Tunnicliffe coordinates WEA's network of 420 million evangelical Christians as International Director of the evangelical community's most recognized organization. He was chosen to receive the award in special recognition for service, leadership and achievement in the Christian community.

Following a charge to the graduates and benediction, the exercises concluded with recessional music provided by Jubilee College of Music, which performed two choral selections during the ceremony.

Commencement guests enjoyed a special reception in honor of the graduates at the executive offices of Olivet University immediately following the occasion.
