Dr. Ralph Winter Visits OU

August 28, 2005

On August 27 at 11 a.m., the anticipated visit by Dr. Ralph Winter finally took place as he made an entrance to Olivet University Chapel, accompanied by Olivet University President Dr. David Jang, who introduced the founder and chairman of USCWM to more than 100 faculty, staff, and students gathered.

Dr. Winter, 80, presented before the members a hopeful speech about amazing "Gospelization" currently occurring all around the world today. Using statistics and figures of churches and Christians in Gentile lands such as China and India, Dr. Winter revealed an astonishing works being done throughout the world through the Bible alone.

In spite of such great movement of Christianization, he pointed out a critical challenge confronting America, which he cited as the "most Christian nation with the most black marks."

Going on, Dr. Winters spoke about the difficulty of presentation in all of today's media and reporting and how imperative the task is of Christian publications such as the Christian Post to impact Christianity and the every day lives of Christians.

Following the speech, Dr. Jang, called everyone for a warm round of applause for Dr. Winter and expressed his hope of co-weaving the network in hundreds of cities and sharing resources together.

"Just as the Bibles spread quickly through the inventing of the printing press, the new technologies are contributable to missions," said Jang. "Though our school is very shabby, I would let all these people here to put forth all their efforts into missions by learning from your publications and resources."

The USCWM is a representative research center for global missions and a representative body for missiological works and developments worldwide.
