Olivet Welcomes USCWM Perspectives Program Representatives

May 15, 2006

San Francisco, CA – Olivet University welcomed officials from the Perspectives Study Program, a division of world renowned United States Center for World Missions (USCWM) on Friday, May 12. The gathering was an opportunity for the institutions to discuss future vision and goals for working together to advance Christian mission.

This visit is the latest in a series of conferences involving USCWM and Olivet University representatives initiated in early 2005. Guests included National Director David Flynn, who leads the Perspectives Study Program headquarter office in Fayetteville , Arkansas . His team is responsible for finding and implementing creative ways to update the Program's administration, especially technological solutions.

Friday's meeting consisted of an informal tour of the University's main campus in downtown San Francisco , followed by several presentations and a short reception at the office of the President.

"Both Olivet University and USCWM are striving to evolve as world missions and its demands change," commented Walker Tzeng, Chief Operating Officer of Olivet University . "We envision ways we can reach each successive generation for Christ by working together – and this meeting is the next logical step."

The Perspectives Study Program is a missions training course originally designed by the world's leading missiologist Dr. Ralph Winter, who serves as the University's honorary chairman. The program's study material is hailed as the most widely-used missions text in colleges and seminaries.

Additional conferences between Olivet University and USCWM representatives are slated for later this year.
