Jubilee College of Music Students Attend Christian Festivals

August 17, 2005

Students of Jubilee College of Music attended several Christian music festivals this summer, notably Creation Festival West Coast in George, Washington, and Spirit West Coast in Monterey, California. Through these festivals, JCM students were able to gain a larger perspective on evangelism through music and the Christian music scene. In meeting Christian contemporary music artists, students were able to ask about issues in regard to being a Christian artist and songwriter.

Creation Festival in Washington hosted 50,000 people at America's largest Christian festival, with guest speakers, a line-up of over 40 artists, and activities for all ages. "It was an exciting experience, being able to converse with people that we admired and respected, and to see more clearly the direction that we are headed," says Cindy Lee.

Spirit West Coast in Monterey had guest speakers from Soul Survivor, Compassion and other international organizations, as well as 50+ artists of many genres. Spirit West Coast featured 5 different stages, with music playing simultaneously throughout the 3 day festival. "Seeing the artists perform and interact with the audience was very inspiring. Newsboys changed the atmosphere from a concert to a worship, which shows me their devotion to the Lord above all else," describes Marie Janeckova.

Jubilee College of Music students attended these festivals to experience and see first-hand the importance and impact of Christian music. Also, to witness the large community of Christians gathering, centered on worship and praise. No matter what denomination and culture boundaries, through praise of the one and only God, there can be unity. This left a lasting impression and sense of encouragement for JCM students to study diligently and serve the Christian community through music.
