Although Fall semester classes are not yet in session, it's still learning season at Olivet University. The school has offered an array of on-campus activities and programs for students led by experienced faculty and staff. The goal of this year's summer lineup is to build and refresh student competencies in a variety of fields.
One of the opportunities offered at Olivet this summer included the Olivet Theological College & Seminary (OTCS) Summer Intensive Session, July 17-20.
The course schedule was structured as follows:
7/17: The Life and Works of Jesus Christ
OTCS Professor Tom J. Cowley
7/18 – 7/19: Cultural Adaptation and Communications in the Mission Field
OTCS Dean William L. Wagner
7/20 – 7/21: Anthropology in Mission
OTCS Professor Joseph Ray Tallman
Faculty members from Olivet University, some of which have held faculty appointments at other leading institutions, introduced the students to key concepts in theology and missiology. The program participants gained knowledge and technical skills, in addition to spiritual renewal and mentoring relationships that will enhance their future studies at Olivet.
More than 40 students participated internationally.
This intensive session was followed by a two-hour focus group discussion that provided participants a chance to share feedback and seek general advice from ministry students and professionals.
