Bay Area Poet to Present in Art and Theology

September 30, 2009
David Madgalene, a leading poet and performance artist in the San Francisco Bay Area, will make a special presentation in poetry and song titled “What We Can Learn from Poets and Singers” to students enrolled in the Master of Divinity course TH610 Art & Theology.

Madgalene’s presentation follows starring roles at the Petaluma Poetry Walk in the North Bay and the Shelldance Festival in the South Bay. He is also scheduled to give featured readings in the San Francisco metro area later this month. Madgalene is the author of several books including "I Heard a Journeyman Sing." He teaches at Olivet, often with his father and Former University President Dr. David James Randolph, who is teaching Art & Theology this semester.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, October 1 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel. Madgalene’s performance is open to all members of the University community. The performance will be followed by discussion on what Christian ministers and missionaries can learn from poets, singers and other artists.
