Representatives from Olivet University participated in the 2009 ICETE Consultation held in Sopron, Hungary from October 5-9. Olivet Theological College & Seminary Dean (OTCS) Dr. Joseph Ray Tallman and Chief Operating Officer Walker Tzeng participated in the conference as part of the World Evangelical Theological Institute Association (WETIA).
ICETE is a global council of evangelical institutions charged with "encouraging international interaction and collaboration among all those concerned for the enhancement of evangelical theological education worldwide." The council meets every three years, and is joined by hundreds of prominent seminary presidents, deans, theologians, and accrediting officials from countries and regions around the world.
At ICETE’s request, WETIA joined the ICETE consultation to address the technological and online education interests of the member institutions. A workshop entitled "Technological Solutions for Theological Education for the Network Generation" was presented to orient schools to the latest in online education technology as well as present tools that Olivet University has developed in the its Research & Development facility.
WETIA is serving as a platform for networking and collaboration in ICETE around the issues of advancing the technological and educational capabilities of seminaries, Bible Colleges, and Christian Universities worldwide.
