With the start of the Spring 2010 semester, Olivet College of Art & Designer (OCAD) students are beginning to settle into their new courses. Several OCAD undergrads have gotten a headstart on the semester with some important projects.
One of the projects began during their winter break with Evangelical Association of the Caribbean (EAC) for the Haiti relief efforts. Students worked closely with EAC's executive director on the website in providing the latest updates to its members during the crucial rescue efforts. The project gave students opportunity to reach out and assist those impacted by the devastation in Haiti.
Students also worked on designs for the school's new sub website called Olivet YOU! The page offers module courses allowing featured courses which are open to students in all colleges.
Another project involved collaboration between design and business students form Olivet College of Business. The students worked together to create a social network website originating from a Masters Student thesis project which was presented at the final review. The web design project provided opportunities for co-work between design, business planning, and online marketing. Students ran a few tests using Google analytics and were able to garner some revenue from ads and visitors. Students plan to use their experience from these projects for application towards suppporting missions through ministries.
