The newly revised Olivet University Online Newsletter was released after months of collaborative work between the Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ) and Olivet College of Art & Design (OCAD). After taking a series of classes in writing, research, and design, the two colleges formed a team to revise the school's online newsletter that is read by students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
The newsletter has been an effective tool to communicate the latest news and events happening on campus. Online students also feel closer with onsite teachers and classmates through this digital format. Workshops and mentorship was needed throughout the process. Faculty members offered seminars teaching good journalistic skills along with design and photography tools that can be used for each week's publication.
Students who are interested can apply for the project and join in enhancing the school's online newsletter. Future plans include integrating more digital content such as video and feeds to mobile devices.
