Olivet University in collaboration with the Center for Arts, Religion and Education, an affiliate of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley and Patten University is preparing for its annual arts festival that will bring together works from Christian artists, students, and faculty. This year’s theme is entitled "Signs of Hope: More Candles in the Dark" based on Jesus' call to us be the light of the world (Mark 5.14-16). The guiding question is, What is your Christian light and how are you letting it shine with art and new media?
Olivet Theological College & Seminary professor Dr. David James Randolph established the New Way Media & Arts Festival at Olivet in order to bring together artists, media, and educate participants through showcasing artworks that inspire the Christian community. The program plans to feature themes of Signs and Hope from the new Narnia film, displaying new art from Olivet College of Art & Design students, offering panels from guest speakers, and featuring work from guest artist John Skaggs from Patten University.
Jubilee College of Music (JCM) will also be featured with a number of musical performances led by Professor Dr. Merrill Smoak and program director Jade Cho. The New Way Media & Arts Festival plans to continue its success from last year’s event that included art, music, education, and fellowship. The festival and art gallery runs from December 14-16th in Olivet University's Chapel.
