Olivet University welcomed students, faculty, and guests to its annual New Way Media & Arts Festival hosted by Dr. David James Randolph, Olivet Theological College & Seminary professor. The event featured artworks from Olivet College of Art & Design students, faculty, as well as guest artists ranging from digital art, websites, photography, paintings, and woodblock prints.
Guest speaker John Skaggs, from Patten University, shared his testimony about how Christ saved his life through the arts. Through his new inspiration, he utilized painting to educate students on philosophy and the biblical teachings. Skaggs presented a variety of his work including paintings pertaining to the book of Zecharia and Revelations. The presentation also touched upon modern art and referenced artists such as Andy Warhol and Wassily Kandinsky.
The New Way Media & Arts Festival was held in Olivet University’s Chapel in collaboration with the Center for Arts, Religion and Education, an affiliate of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU) in Berkeley and Patten University in Oakland. The event was established in order to bring together artists, media, and educate participants through showcasing artworks that inspire the Christian community.
