MA Students Perform at Sherman Clay & Co. Concert Hall

January 25, 2011

Jubilee College of Music Masters students performed at a worship concert in downtown San Francisco’s Sherman Clay & Co. Concert Hall.  The event  was performed under the theme “The New World” and included both classical and contemporary style of worship piano music.

The first half included solo performances playing J.S.Bach’s "Sheep May Safely Graze" from birthday Cantata, "Prelude" from the Ratswahl Cantata, and "Chaconne" from Violin Sonata No.4.  The second half performance was an arrangement of hymns such as 'How Great Thou Art,' 'Great is Thy Faithfulness,' 'In the Garden,' 'This is my Father's World,' and 'My Tribute' performed on a solo piano within a contemporary context.

"The music pieces within the program were all very challenging.  The preparation required a lot of practice both in technical and musical aspects, but she interpreted every piece carefully and delivered the message of 'The New World' deeply to the audience (through the piano)," said Jade Cho, piano instructor of JCM.

JCM MA student Rebekah Kim shared her reflection on the performances.  "I was impressed that such a deep message can be conveyed without lyrics through the piano.  I felt the diversity of color that was projected in each and every piece. I want to give thanks to JCM who hosted this beautiful and meaningful concert."
