Olivet University held its first overseas Doctor of Ministry Colloquium in Seoul, Korea. International students from around the world gathered for its annual week-long event that included special plenary sessions on dissertation writing, and individual student presentations.
Faculty from Olivet's San Francisco campus attended the event to lecture and consult doctoral students. University President Dr. William Wagner delivered the first set of lectures on 20th century church planting, followed by Dr. Ray Tallman's, Vice President of Olivet University, insight on World Mission Movement. Dr. Tom Cowley, Head of the Doctor of Ministry Program, lectured on Business and Missions. The event’s keynote speaker Dr. Changsik Lee, renowned scholar and former Dean of Hanshin University in Korea, spoke to students on Understanding the Theological History of Christianity.
The following days gave opportunities for students to present their progress on their doctoral papers. Each candidate received feedbacks from faculty members and peers. The public event was attended by hundreds of students from Olivet's Doctoral Ministry program and those invited from surrounding Korean Universities.
It was the first colloquium held outside of the United States and concluded with positive reception from participants. The next colloquium is scheduled for the summer of 2011 in San Francisco, CA.
