Dr. David James Randolph, who champions New Media in religion and education, has been named Dean of the Olivet College of Journalism (OCJ). He served as former president to Olivet University and made significant numbers of developments during his tenure such as accreditation status, enhanced learning resources, and expanded campus facilities.
Former OCJ Dean Dr. James Willis provided Olivet with exemplary leadership and guidance toward the college’s development. Dr. Randolph looks to continue the ongoing growth.
“I welcome the opportunity to serve as Dean of Olivet College of Journalism, an emerging school with rich connections to established media locally, nationally and internationally. Working today on the solid foundations set by former Dean Dr. James Willis and his colleagues we will strengthen our program while preparing the way for the next generation of leaders. Journalism covers the news of the day and theology presents the good news of God and Olivet University is called to educate persons to bring these together in ways that are real, faithful and creative.” said Dr. Randolph.
Aside from teaching, Dr. Randolph founded and hosts one of the first festivals of New Media and art as a professor at Olivet University and the Graduate Theological Union in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a writer, his book “The Renewal of Preaching in the 21st Century” (Cascade Press), explores how New Media challenge and strengthen communications in and beyond the church. Dr. Randolph is a founder of the Academy of Homiletics and was pastor of leading United Methodist Churches in New York City, Long Island and elsewhere.
