Olivet University held its 2012 Fall Convocation on Friday, Sept 21, 2012, as the school enters a new academic year. The ceremony invited students, family, faculty, staff, and friends of the university.
A total of 13 faculty members were present for the procession, including Dr. Tony Sargent, Principle emeritus of International Christian College in Scotland, Dr. Thomas Johnson, Vice President for Research at Martin Bucer Theological School, Dr. Karl-Heinz Kuhlman, Professor emeritus of Evangelical Theological Faculty in Belgium, and Dr. Chansamone Saiyasak, Founder and President of Mekong Bible Seminary in Thailand.
Dr. Joseph Ray Tallman, the Vice President of Olivet University, opened the ceremony with a prayer, which was followed by a personal greeting from the academic dean, Dr. Tracy Davis.
Dr. William Wagner, the president and chancellor of Olivet University, introduced the speaker of the event, Dr. Markus Wagner, Dean of Olivet College of Language Education.
The Convocation address, titled "Ready, Set, Go", and Dr. Markus Wagner took the example of the temptation of Jesus Christ in Matthew 4. Dr. Markus Wagner encouraged the audience to follow God's calling by obeying God’s Words, trusting in God, and be loyal to our Lord Jesus Christ.
The program was concluded by a benediction from Dr. Tom Cowley, the Dean of Olivet College of Business.
