OCB Offers "God's ROI" Management Course

October 16, 2012

The Olivet College of Business looks into Return on Investment for the kingdom in this quarter’s managerial accounting course.  Led by OCB faculty member Linda Lim, the Finance II – Managerial Accounting course is part of the Olivet College of Business MBAcurriculum.

Lim will look to guide students to better understand, acquire, and utilize the rich information produced by these accounting systems.  Students will also be able to identify the information required and how to request such information.

"Accounting is a core principle in business as well as in faith. In a corporation, managers are responsible for delivering top-line and bottom-line results, referring to sales and net income respectively. In faith, God entrusts us with many talents, and will someday ask us to give an accounting of what we have achieved with these talents (God's ROI, if you will),”states Lim.

As businesses evolve to adapt to a changing environment, the information becomes necessary to inform decisions and evolve.  Students seeking to go into missions and business will learn to take information from existing sources and evaluate it differently with new sources of information developed.  The knowledge available in the course enables each participant to better function in a world that is altering itself before our very eyes.

“Stewardship is a key trait of the mature Christian, and a deep understanding of accounting will help OCB students demonstrate this characteristic not only in companies but in their private lives as well,” added Lim.

Lim has extensive working experience in the field of corporate accounting for Fortune 500 companies and is also a Certified Public Account.
