Design students from the Olivet University's College of Art & Design (OCAD) prepped the final touches on their book covers for an upcoming gallery exhibit scheduled later this month. The showcase will present a series of student work utilizing typography, photography, arts & crafts, and icons.
As part of the Graphic Design 2 Concept course, students explore the process of experimentation and creation as they engage in the creative process that involves planning, exploration, and building.
For Olivet University design students, the designing process for book covers placed them into a voyage through ideation, conception, exploration, and implementation. Working off a given short description, students work through conceptual ideas before refining their final selection into a cover, which includes the title, subtitle, and author. Research was needed in finding the right type classifications and typefaces combined with photography and images.
