Art students from Olivet University's Design College will have the opportunity to showcase work in this year’s Christ Centered Art, CCA, show hosted at the Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore, CA. The theme for CCA's 2013 annual event is "creation" from Genesis chapter 1 and Colossians 1:15-20.
Christ Centered Art is inviting Christian artist to study Genesis Chapter 1 and Colossians 1:15-20. Artists from around the Bay Area are encouraged to order to create original pieces of art that tells God's story of creation and celebrate Jesus, as Creator with the Father. The annual exhibition will showcase various types of art from local artists which include watercolor, oil paintings, stained glass, graphic design, and digital works. Students from Olivet College of Art & Design plan to submit digital works that will be exhibited by projections and printed materials.
"It’ll be a great opportunity for me to visit the CCA show," said Cherry Zhou, a second year design student.
"As a Christian design student, the show will be filled with inspiration on how artists combine biblical scripture with art. Through this, not only the artists themselves can be understood visually, but also the scripture will be deeply portrayed. The art works can bring encouragement to others as well as seeing a different world of art," added Zhou.
"This will be an exciting experience. I can learn how others express religion through art and apply it to my own work. Being an international student from China, this can allow me to communicate with other artists through the visual language," said Joy Zwei, a first year OCAD student.
The exhibition will be scheduled to open on April 20-21.
