International students from Olivet University's School of Media and Communication are seeking opportunities this summer to serve in the news and journalism industry. Through Olivet School of Media and Communication's internship program, international students can thrive in gaining experience while putting their foreign language skills to use.
Students collaborated with professional reporters, writers, and media staff to write and translate content. News media outlets are now making their news available in different languages, thus Olivet international students were prepared to contribute through their languages in Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, and Korean.
Through the opportunities, students put theory into practice. What they learned in the classroom is now transferred over to a professional setting alongside experienced journalists. The experiences range from reporting, writing, photo, and video journalism. Each area increased the students' appreciation to the different forms of journalism as well as connecting with influential figures in the Christian ministry field. Students praise the program and shared that it is very rewarding to know that the content they are translating will be helping inform readers from their home countries.
