For the upcoming 2015 Winter Quarter, Olivet Business School (OBS) will begin offering a new Business Law course as part of its curriculum. The course will offer OBS students understanding of legal principles governing business and its transactions.
The added Business Law course is part of OBS’s revamping of its MBA curriculum. The course explores the legal environment in which businesses operate and study the interaction between business and the legal system. Business students will be guided to examine various areas of the law, which are integral to operating a business enterprise. Topics covered in the class will include contracts, torts, agency, Uniform Commercial Code, ethical and criminal implications of business actions, property laws, and the legal aspects of different business entities.
Through this course, OBS hopes to equip future entrepreneurs with necessary law knowledge in preparing them for effective leadership positions in the business field. Professor Lisa Tolliver will be teaching the course in cooperation with some local Christian lawyers. Professor Lisa has substantial experience of teaching seminars, workshops, and business lessons for Department of Defense, US Small Business Administration, SCORE: Counselors to America's Small Business, NYC Business Services, SUNY Nassau Community College, etc. She earned her A.B. from Harvard and an MBA and post-graduate degree from Columbia University.
