Olivet University's 2015 Spring commencement ceremony was held on June 19, 2015 as graduates and guests from around the world gathered to celebrate the awarding of Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral degrees.
Dr. Tracy Davis, the University's president, addressed the history of Olivet University and the crucial need of inheriting the works of God. Then she urged all graduates to be bold and fearless to testify what God has done in their lives.
Special guest and commencement speaker was Dr. Rev. Joel Edwards, the former international president of Micah Challenge, a global Christian response to extreme poverty. Dr. Rev. Edwards encouraged the graduating class to participate actively in the world and be a living sacrifice offering to God.
Dr. Rev. Edwards had been serving as the General Director of the World Evangelical Alliance UK for over 10 years and currently he is an Advisory Member of Tony Blair's Faith Foundation. In this ceremony, he accepted the conferring of an honorary Doctor of Ministry degree from Olivet University.
Student speaker Kathy Tran spoke about her reflections at the end of the ceremony. "Now that I graduate I ask myself, what should I do next. But instead of speaking about what I can do for God, I will share what God has done in my life and through Olivet University." said Tran.
Students said Olivet University provided a diverse learning experience for them and many students plan to go back to their origin countries and start doing mission and planting church locally.
The two-hour commencement includes special hymns from Jubilee College of Music and was followed by a special reception. It was also broadcasted live online for students unable to attend.
