Earlier this week, Olivet University held its 2015 Convocation at the Riverside campus to dedicate the start of the new school year to God and to kick off the Fall 2015 quarter.
Guest speaker Ken Daughters, who serves at Biola University’s Advancement department, urged students to place their highest priority on studying the Word of God and doing what it says. By doing so, he said, students will learn the most important lesson they can from their college and seminary years.
Olivet University President Dr. Tracy Davis as well as faculty and staff also attended the convocation where many new students were welcomed. Convocations are also being held at Olivet’s other campuses, including in San Francisco and New York.
Daughters is the former president of Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he taught Bible and theology for 23 years. He received his theological education from Biola University, Talbot School of Theology, and Dallas Theological Seminary. He led Emmaus Bible College in a culture shift from a one year Bible institute to a four year, regionally accredited, bachelor’s degree granting college with a variety of majors. He served on the Board of Directors of the Association for Biblical Higher Education. He recently returned home to California where he serves in Advancement for Biola University.
