November 16, 2015

With rapid growth of online video consumption every year, Olivet School of Media and Communication continues to offer video editing courses so that students can be equipped with the necessary skills for this popular medium. The class will soon be open to all Olivet University students.

“It’s a really great class. I’ve been learning a lot,” said an undergraduate student at Olivet School of Media and Communication who believes digital video is crucial in media today.

“By learning these skills, such as adding effects and creating a digital story, I can produce videos that help people know more about God and the Gospel,” she added.

According to a Pew Research Center survey, the proportion of U.S. adults who watch videos online has increased from 40 percent in 2007 to 63 percent in 2013; and the numbers for digital video consumption continue to rise.

OSMC has been focusing on preparing students with journalistic skills such as reporting, writing and editing. It has also provided extensive courses on History of Journalism, Law & Ethics, Mass Media and Cultures, Media Management.
