Jubilee College of Music (JCM) in Riverside main campus hosted its annual student recital for their music students. The 2019 concert concluded successfully over the weekend testifying the growth of the JCM performers.
Starting with solo participants, a total of nine students performed various styles of music.
Bachelor students, Casey Lai, Jessica Liu and Susan Tao, presented a well-known hymn song, "Amazing Grace" in Violin Trio with piano accompaniment.
Master student, Shawn Pang, sang "When I Cry" by Gaither Vocal Band as a solo Vocal.
Joy Song, Dawn Li and Susan Tao performed a Piano solo piece each and Catherine Huo presented two small Violin pieces.
Liu and Tao decorated the last part of the concert with a hymn, "I Need Thee Every Hour" that was arranged for four-hands piano.
After the concert, Pang shared, "I think most of us did well. I was nervous so there were a few mistakes, but overall I felt like most of us did our best. Technically I felt we performed smoothly, but if we can enhance the musical emotions in the performance that will be better!"
One of the audience members from the concert testified that the performance of the music college students grew much more than last year, "They improved a lot since last year's concert! The performers seemed more poise and confident."
JCM Associate Dean Dr. Emily Ko shared that preparing a concert gave great motivation to music practice. "JCM will plan more concerts where students can promote themselves more actively," said Dr. Ko.
