Olivet University welcomed a new academic year with a convocation ceremony held virtually on Tuesday, September 22. Students and faculty in the U.S. and around the world joined the live-streamed event.
University President Dr. Matthias Gebhardt gave the convocation address based on the scripture Luke 19:1-10, in which the story of Zacchaeus' salvation is recorded.
"We have many faculty here, who are like the sycamore tree, whom you can climb on to see Jesus," Dr. Gebhardt highlighted in his speech. He then exhorted students to pursue professionalism in their fields so that they can bring many people to Jesus Christ with what they do.
New faculty members for the Jubilee College of Music (JCM), Olivet School of Hospitality (OSH), and the Children's Development program were introduced during the convocation.
Since most students will be engaging in distance learning, the use of technology is crucial to foster effective communication with students nationwide and worldwide. Olivet University is committed to creating an educational environment that will lead students to success even in the time of the pandemic. It prays that all students and faculty will have a fruitful and rewarding academic year.
