Olivet Theological College & Seminary Launches Weekly Column ‘Dear Sophie’

September 10, 2025

Designed to provide readers with practical guidance and thoughtful reflection, the column reflects the seminary’s ongoing mission to integrate rigorous biblical study with real-world application. The name “Sophie,” derived from the Greek “Sophia (σοφ?α),” means “wisdom.” In ancient Greek philosophy, Sophia symbolized knowledge and discernment, while in Christian theology, she is sometimes seen as a personification of divine wisdom. Building on this heritage, Dear Sophie seeks to offer clarity, understanding, and spiritual insight to helping readers with real-life application of Olivet sermons.

Initially, Dear Sophie will be distributed to Olivet students and alumni, with plans to expand its reach to a broader Christian audience through syndication on social media platforms and Christian websites.

Contributors include OTCS faculty members seasoned in the Word of God and recognized for their commitment to equipping the church for today’s world.

Seminary students are encouraged to contribute to Dear Sophie. Interested students should email otcs@olivetuniversity.edu for guidelines and further information.
