Christian Attorney Dr. Nathan Adams Encourages OU Students on Faith and Vocation

December 04, 2025

Olivet University students and guests gathered this week to hear from Dr. Nathan Adams, a former leading counsel for the Christian Legal Society. With extensive experience practicing before federal courts across the country, Dr. Adams offered an encouraging reflection on faith, calling, and professional service.

Dr. Adams shared how his own vocational path developed, noting that although he grew up in a family of pastors, he felt called to pursue law as a way to serve others and contribute to society. His journey illustrated how God may lead individuals in directions they did not initially expect, and he encouraged students to remain open to God’s guidance in their own lives.

Throughout the talk, Dr. Adams emphasized the importance of preparation and excellence in any profession. He noted that confidence, whether in a courtroom, classroom, or ministry setting, comes from diligent study and responsible stewardship of one’s gifts. He reminded students that their work, regardless of field, can have a meaningful impact when approached with integrity and purpose.

He also spoke about the personal and spiritual challenges that can arise in demanding careers. Dr. Adams encouraged students to cultivate spiritual grounding, explaining that character, humility, and prayer are essential for long-term effectiveness and resilience. Times of discouragement, he noted, can become opportunities to grow deeper in faith.

During a question-and-answer session, Dr. Adams offered practical insights on navigating career pressures and balancing personal and professional responsibilities. Drawing from biblical examples, he reminded students that God often calls people despite their perceived limitations and equips them for the work ahead.

In closing, Dr. Adams urged students to pursue their studies and future vocations with courage and faith. Whether entering law, ministry, business, or another field, he affirmed that each person has a role in strengthening communities and serving God’s purposes. His visit left many students encouraged as they continue discerning their own callings.
